ARTIST STATEMENT

I am forever fascinated by the interconnectedness between humans and nature. By studying the patterns and idiosyncrasies found in the natural landscape, I connect to my immediate surroundings, my dreams and memories, my immigrant identity, and my observations of material culture. I use acrylic, oil, and gouache to seamlessly merge collage imagery into layered paintings and works on paper. This technique lends itself to both loose and refined elements of surrealism, painterly expression, and illustration. Inspired by direct observation, childhood memories and cultural excavations, my work explores themes of time, place, and belonging while becoming part of a contemporary dialogue. Subtle narratives emerge, joining a conversation about how we observe and experience our surroundings, the healing power of nature, and the impending changes in our collective environment.
