Keshida Layone is a self-taught mixed media painter from New York currently living and working in Philadelphia with his wife and daughter and their beloved dog. Layone was predestined for a life in the arts. He was raised by a tribe of powerfully influential women (his mother, grandmother, and aunts), all creatives in their own right, who set him on a path of exploration towards his own creative endeavors.
Layone's company, Breathe Art, is a visual journey for all who encounter his body of work. Breathe Art mimics fantasy vs. reality; dreamy and emotional, it takes a deep dive into mysterious and unknown depths just like life itself. His work is derived from the innermost expressions of himself. His subject matter includes the African diaspora, the endangered Earth and mental health awareness.
He has exhibited in New York City, Atlanta, GA, Brooklyn, NY, Charlotte, NC, Toronto, Canada and Philadelphia, PA. He has a host of private Art Collectors throughout the country.
Artist Statement :
My definition of creativity is to color outside the lines. That's when things get interesting. When there are no rules or boundaries to follow. My work moves fluidly between memory, imagination, and emotional truth. I was raised in Long Island, New York, but I’ve spent the last decade cultivating a deeply-rooted creative life in Philadelphia—one shaped by nature, community, and an intuitive spiritual connection to the world around me. My hope is that my art invites viewers into moments of reflection and release, offering space to pause and slow down, to feel, and momentarily step beyond reality into a realm of color, healing, peace and possibility.
