vuLoN_ (pronounced vuh-lone) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Norristown, PA. Originally from West Chester and a graduate of the Art Institute of Philadelphia's Visual Communication program, he has a background in graphic design and spent 17+ years as a photo editor (Aeropostale, Lilly Pulitzer, Jet, WebstaurantStore). What began with drawing throughout childhood later expanded into digital art, as well as painting and mixed media art. All while a budding interest in music as a teenager went from DJ'ing to creating experimental Hip-Hop as Carl Kavorkian, and eventually Manikineter, a project blending improvisational noise, industrial rap, and screaming vocals. Both mediums are an outlet for raw, layered intensity—built from texture, distortion, and contrast.  

Artist Statement

This is a lifelong experiment. Rooted in childhood memories and high school art classes, and galvanized by the experience of a layoff, my practice lives at the point where the outer world and my inner world collide.

I draw from personal memory, pop culture, current events, and occasionally food—transforming what I remember and what I know into something that didn't exist before. Medium is not a concern. Acrylic, mixed media, digital imaging, AI, VR, 3D modeling, 3D printing, even noise/industrial rap—all are vehicles used to explore the tension between what is wild and what can be shaped.

My influences sit inside that same tension: the sleek technicality of H.R. Giger, the wildly unconcerned creativity of Parliament/Funkadelic album covers, the bold futurism of the cryptoart movement. I don't see boundaries between media—only opportunities to experiment, combine, distort, and evolve.
