Cathey White is an artist, educator and native of Philadelphia. She holds a BFA in fine art and education from Moore College of Art & Design. White’s paintings and drawings speak to the beauty and color that can be found throughout the muted background of the city. Her work explores local architecture, urban archaeology and the grittier side of the city. The urban environment and the beauty found in typically unnoticed places inspire her. In July 2022, White was one of 43 artists selected to paint a large-scale public mural for the Tiny Room for Elephants Festival at the Cherry Street Pier in Philadelphia. Her work has also been featured at various shops and galleries, including The Brooklyn Art Library, Dock Street Brewery, Moore College of Art & Design, Philadelphia Distilling, B Square Gallery, House Gallery 1816, Kensington Community Food Co-Op, and the NoName Art Gallery in Chestnut Hill.
